Lower Mustang Trekking trail leads through Kali Gandaki River bank where a number of mules can be seen carrying loads on their back. Kaligandaki River is famous for Saligrama, which are supposed to be the forms of Hindu god The Vishnu. The river has the world’s deepest river gorge and important for its sacredness. Trekking trail includes ancient village of Kagbeni to be explored. Then the route goes to Muktinath which is very sacred for Buddhist and Hindu followers. Lower Mustang is known as the best place to experience the Tibetan culture as it is considered to have a historical and cultural relationship with Tibet for a long time. With this, the trek offers you the opportunity to witness the Gurung community and their unique lifestyle. During your journey through Jomsom area, you will experience beautiful, traditional Nepali lifestyle and culture. Trekking from Muktinath area to Mustang village is wonderful experience passing through white mud painted houses experiencing untouched culture of the Manage People. We experience a range of surroundings, from the culture of the lowland villages to the splendour of the high Himalaya. This trek gives many spectacular views of the two Himalayan giants, Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges. This is indeed a classic trek which allows access to the high mountains of the Himalaya within a reasonable time frame and without ascending to extreme altitude. Accommodation and food is provided in the local lodge. Trekking in Lower Mustang is easy adventure with full of opportunities to explore. It does not require any experience to trek in this region but one should be fit and healthy. Trekking in Lower Mustang region gives life memorable experience to the visitors who want to see the traditional life style of Nepalese high mountains settlers.

Very warm ‘Namaste’ (welcome in Nepali) for your great journey with us. We will meet at the Kathmandu, Tribhuvan International Airport and would drive to your hotel. As you get ease and freshen up after your long fight, we humbly request you to visit our office for a briefing about your program. You will have a meeting with your trekking guide and discuss the equipment needed for the trekking and we will process for the trekking permits. If you arrive at night we will have the same discussion in the next day morning after your breakfast.
After having your breakfast, we will drive you to the Domestic Airport to take a 25 minutes flight to Pokhara. During the short flight, you will have majestic views of glorious Manaslu Peaks and the snowcapped Annapurna and Langtang Himalaya range. Or you can take a Tourist bus to Pokhara about 6-7 hour drive via scenic Prithivi Highway enjoying short stops for lunch and breakfast and scenic beauty all the way around. you will transfer to the hotel, after freshen up, you will be free and can look around the lakeside city by yourself, you can visit the Phewa lake where you can enjoy the spectacular views of Annapurna Himalaya Range reflected in all its glory in the calm green water of the lake and visit Bindavasini Temple which is only accessible by boat
We begin our trek at Nayapul after an hour drive on a private vehicle from Pokhara. After a short 15-minute walk along the banks of the Modi Khola, we reach Birethanti (1,015m) a large village with many shops and teahouses. From there, the trail continues through the village and follows the north bank of the Bhurungdi Khola. The trail climbs steadily up the side of the valley to Hille at 1,495m and after a short climb, we reach Tikhedhunga at 1,570m. Today’s walk is relatively short and easy, a prelude to the trekking experience in the Annapurna region. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
From Tikhe Dhunga the trail crosses a stream on a suspension bridge near the camp site at Tikhe Dhunga. The trail ascends a steep stone staircase (which has about 3300 steps) to the large Magar village of Ulleri at 2080m. Above the village, the trail climbs gently through pastures and cultivated fields.
There is a camp site for a rest and water stop one hour’s walk above Ulleri. The trail crosses two sparkling streams before making a short, final climb to Nangethanti where we stop for lunch. Thanti is a Nepali word meaning “rest house”. In the winter the trail can be covered with snow. From Nangethanti we will climb to Ghorepani at 2850m, from here we can see the spectacular panorama of Dhaulagiri I (8167m), Nilgiri (6940m) Annapurna I (8091m) Hiunchuli (6441m) and more. This morning, we will get up early and hike to Poon Hill 3,210m/10529ft). From here you will see a superb view of the sunrise and a panoramic view of the Himalaya, including Mt. Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fishtail, and others. After visiting Poonhill, we will come back to Ghorepani, have a hot breakfast, and continue walking to Tatopani. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
The trek now starts up the Kali Gandaki valley, which is said to be the deepest gorge in the world Here we will enjoy a beautiful day’s walking along the Kali Gandaki riverside, gradually ascending into sub-tropical vegetation. We will cross the Bhalu Khola on a high suspension bridges before arriving at Dana (1450m) Around 30 minutes from Dana we will see a very high waterfall: Rupse Chhahara (which translates as “beautiful waterfall”). From there we will continue through the steepest and narrowest part of the Kali Gandaki valley, where much of the route is cut through solid rock. We will cross the river again on a 120m long bridge to the east side. We will continue on to Ghasa, an ethnic Thakali village and this marks the southernmost limit of Tibetan Buddhism in the valley. The trail follows the Kali Gandaki River, passing through a narrow gorge before reaching Thakali traditional villages. Today we will cross the gorge and river numerous times via long suspension bridges, which make great photo opportunities. We will pass a couple of villages (e.g. Lete, Kalopani and Kokhethati). On the way we can see the top of Dhaulagiri Mountain peeking over the west side. We will end our day in the village of Tukuche. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
An easy and lovely day’s walking where we will first see the village of Khobang, which has narrow alleyways and tunnels connecting houses. We can make short side trip to the Kanti Gompa (a Buddhist temple). Then our route continues to Marpha, one of the most important place for Apple. We can see a wine-brandy distillery here and walk through the orange orchard street. We will continue our trek for another 2 hours before reaching our day’s final destination at Jomsom, Here we will have lunch then trek continue along the Kaligandaki river passing though Eklai Bhatti. Overnight at guesthouse, breakfast, lunch and dinner included.
Our journey starts uphill towards Jharkot village. During the walk we will have scenic picturesque places to stop by and admire. From Kagbeni the path climbs steeply to re-join the direct trail leading to Khingar at 3200 meter. The trail climbs through a desert landscape until Jarkot Village. A further climb reaches us to Muktinath.
In the morning, you can visit the Muktinath temple which is an important pilgrimage destination for Hindu and Buddhist. Here you come across Natural flaming which really exhilarates you. You can enjoy a holy bath of 108 Taps. From Muktinath temple garden, you can see an excellent view of mount Dhaulagiri (8,167m), Nilgiri (7,061m.) and others. Descend down to a hotel for breakfast than retrace your steps to Marpha village.
Marpha village recognized as an Apple orchard, you can eat apples if it happens to be the fruit season. Marpha is a big village enriched with a Buddhist Monastery in between the village which has its own cultural importance. At morning, just hike to Monestry for great view and meditation if you like. Otherwise, we conduct our journey ascends the wide valley of Kali Gandaki o Jomsom Bazaar. Throughout the trek, you will be enjoying many ethnic villages with a sparse population of Gurung, Thakali, and few Tibetans, you can reach to Jomsom. There is an eco Museum where you can visit in the afternoon. In the evening you celebrate the completion of your trek with the trekking crew.
After an early breakfast in Jomsom, you'll be transferred to the local airstrip to catch your return flight to Pokhara. From here, you'll catch a connecting flight to Kathmandu. Once you arrive, you'll be transferred to your hotel in the capital city. Spend the rest of the day on your own, perhaps exploring the streets on foot, bicycle, or rickshaw, and seeing anything you may have missed at the beginning of your trip.
We will take you to the International Airport for your convenience. Wish you a happy journey in the traditional and cultural way of us Nepalese and Good-Bye with a hope to see you again.
